eTrust EZ AntivirusProduct Details: Low Overhead
EZ Antivirus is small to download and is not a system resource hog! The download
file is just 3.7Mb and unzipped it takes only 7Mb hard disk space. It is suitable
for Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, XP and 2000 and requires a minimum of just 32Mb RAM
on 95/98/ME, 74Mb RAM on NT/2000 and 128Mb RAM on XP. Fully Automatic Signature
Updates eTrust EZ Antivirus 6.0 can be configured to automatically update
your virus signature files at a frequency and time most convenient for you. Because
eTrust EZ Antivirus has the smallest "footprint" of the leading antivirus providers,
the signature updates only takes a few minutes to complete. This easily and effectively
addresses the #1 reason PC users suffer virus attacks; out of date signature lists.
Scheduled Scanning eTrust EZ Antivirus provides
schedule scan support allowing scan jobs to occur at pre-selected intervals and
times that are most convenient for the user. The only way a local scan can occur
with eTrust EZ Antivirus 5.x is by the user manually initiating the job. Interactive
Scan Results eTrust EZ Antivirus can collect all the infected files in
a results window and let the user apply corrective actions (cure, delete, rename,
move, submit) for individual files. User Action Prompt eTrust EZ
Antivirus real-time driver can be configured to prompt for an action (cure, delete,
rename, move, submit) when an infection is detected. eTrust EZ Antivirus 5.x only
allows users to set the infected action for all files detected by the real time
scanner. Advance Detection Options As part of Advance Detection,
eTrust EZ Antivirus has three options to further detect malicious code and to
speed up the scan time. These options are Heuristic Scanning (already provided
in eTrust EZ Antivirus 5.x), Incremental Scanning and Alternate Data Stream Scanning,
the later two being new features to 6.x. With Incremental Scanning, a file
is scanned once and a cached record kept. The file is not scanned again if it
has not been modified since the last scan or if the scanning options have not
changed. This eliminates the unnecessary repetitive scanning of files that were
already checked. The second option, Alternate Data Stream scanning specifies
that the search for "hidden" viruses be extended to alternate data streams associated
with a file. * The Incremental and Alternate Data Stream scanning is unique
to NTFS file systems. ICSA Certification Several independent third
parties test and certify antivirus software. The most widely recognized organization
is the International Computer Security Association (ICSA). To be certified by
the ICSA, the software must detect 100% of viruses "in the wild" (in general distribution),
and at least 90% of the more than 6000 test viruses. All versions of eTrust EZ
Antivirus are ICSA-certified. The test results are available on the web at www.icsa.net
